Mt. Rushmore of this Generation

Ok, Christian Bale is not anywhere near the pantheon of this generation. He's good, but not on the same level.

Here's the Mt. Rushmore:

1. Johnny Depp -- Fear and Loathing, Donnie Brasco, Pirates, Blow, Gilbert Grape.

2. Leonardo DiCaprio --Blood Diamond, The Aviator, The Departed, Catch me if you Can, Titanic, Basketball Diaries

3. Matt Damon -- The Bourne movies, the Ocean's movies, Departed, Good Shepherd, Dogma and all those movies, Rounders, Good Will Hunting, Saving Private Ryan, Field of Dreams (go ahead, look it up. He's in there. Small uncredited role, but he's there.

4. Russell Crowe -- Gladiator, Cinderella Man, American Gangster, Master and Commander, Beautiful Mind, LA Confidential, Virtuosity, 3:10 to Yuma

To quote TK, "There it is, that's the list."

uh, didn't you say that you thought the good shepherd sucked? (answer: yes, yes, you did.)

how can you list that movie as one of the top accomplishments of your #3 actor?

I'm sorry, Matt Damon sucks. He is the last living cro-magnon man. He just happens to be in good movies.

Are we talking stars or great actors? As far as stars go, Id sub Pitt and Ed Norton for Damon and Crowe. All are stars, but I think Pitt and Norton are better actors (Im not taking into account personality. I dont care what actors say outside of the movie, I only care if they can act, but that is a whole different blog). Do you remember Fight Club and American History X? Arguments could be made for Clooney and Sean Penn too. (again, with Penn, no personality. Just act, ok?)

If we are talking actors, your list has to include Philip Seymour Hoffman, John Turturro, and Steve Buscemi. Those guys can act, just like Nicholson or the late great Paul Newman.

Speaking of Fear and Loathing, what about Benicio? And Spidey himself, Tobey McGuire? They could be stars. Ill stop now - there are too many actors.

Ed Norton! That's who I was trying to think of. He was even good in "Death to Smoochy," "though I'm one of probably three people in America who like that movie.

DiCaprio needs to get off that list too, for his "Blood Diamond" accent if nothing else.

I can't believe that I found that I have something in common with Frink, but I thought Death to Smoochy was damn hilarious as well. Also, Norton in Primal Fear was pretty bad ass and that was very early in his career. He gets my vote over Crowe.
As for you William, I would only put Steve Buscemi in the equation based upon his role as Crazy-Eyes in Mr. Deeds. Other than that he's just a fucking creepy dude.

Will Smith should definitely be on that list. He's an iconic actor. You racist bastard. Ed Norton and Brad Pitt are both better than than Russell Crowe. As I previously mentioned first, Ed Norton is a phenomenal actor and deserves recognition.

I think Vik has a man crush on DiCaprio. That is the only explanation I could think of why he would be on his list, definately not his acting.

did jason bourne, sorry, matt damon do any actual acting in the bourne movies? matt damon's best movie was the one that he and Ben Afleck stole the screenplay for and with Robin Williams reprising his role from the Dead Poets Society!

Ed Norton's roles in Primal Fear and the Score were great, even though they were the same guy...
